Long time readers will probably know I refer to my hubby from time to time. You haven’t seen his face, but you’ve seen some of his handiwork. In this post, you still will not see his face, but you’ll get a better insight into how he thinks.
As you read this, I was not as organized before as I am now. The reason is simple. I got married to a guy who thought differently than I did and it rubbed off. He is a creative and logical guy. He can visualize things in his mind, plan out every sequence down to the footstep, and then make it happen. Is he that meticulous on things normally? No, he merely used his mind to make adjustments to what he does so that he can work around his physical limitations. Others may just give up, he finds a different way as he won’t be stopped. He may be slowed down, but he doesn’t stop.
This brings me to the photos in this entry. My hubby is beginning to prepare to build a storage closet in the basement complete with shelves. First, he is preparing the site and getting the supplies lined up. He keeps to a strict budget to the point of assuming he doesn’t have funds to work with. So we find supplies and salvage what we can to make a project happen. These photos show how organized he is in figuring out what current supplies he has to work with. He cleaned up the area and stacked each board by height, length, and width. Would I do that? No, he does it to reduce his workload and footsteps by having supplies readily available.
I know he will make magic happen with very little cost. Can I do what he does? Nope. I know what is going on in his head though. He is planning on where each piece of wood can best be maximized in the design so nearly all of it will be used. He wastes nothing.
How does that compare to what I do? My sock drawer would be the best example. I won’t show you a photo, but it is easy to imagine. Do your laundry, pull out your socks, don’t match them, and just stuff them in the drawer. That is my system.
